A non-profit arts scholarship initiative.
Our Mission
Why Ricky's Fund?
Ricky’s Fund was created to honor the legacy of Ricky Christiansen, who passed unexpectedly in July 2023. Ricky was a devoted dance dad, uncle, brother, and an unwavering supporter of dance education. His generosity, humor, and deep love for the dance community continue to inspire our mission every day.

Our non-profit exists to empower dancers through scholarships and opportunities that support their artistic, educational, and professional pursuits. We believe in the transformative power of dance—not only as an art form, but as a source of confidence, resilience, and community. Through Ricky’s Fund, we aim to make dance education more accessible, inclusive, and filled with possibility for dancers who may not otherwise have the means.

In addition to supporting dancers, Ricky’s Fund is deeply committed to raising awareness around the issues that impacted Ricky’s life and far too many others: mental health struggles, the fentanyl crisis, and the importance of life-saving education such as Narcan training. By continuing to talk openly, educate our community, and provide resources, we honor Ricky in the most meaningful way—by protecting, strengthening, and supporting the lives of others.

Our ultimate purpose is simple:
To keep Ricky’s spirit alive by helping dancers chase their dreams, and by helping families stay informed, equipped, and supported.

We carry his legacy forward with love, purpose, and hope.
Short Term Vision
In the short term, Ricky’s Fund is focused on raising the financial support needed to sustain the basic operational needs of our nonprofit, allowing us to continue making a meaningful impact. We aim to offer scholarships to dancers who demonstrate exceptional dedication, passion, and work ethic, particularly those who may not have the financial means to pursue additional training or performance opportunities.

Alongside our scholarship efforts, we are also committed to integrating mental health awareness, education on fentanyl-related risks, and community access to Narcan training into our outreach. These initiatives reflect our promise to support the whole dancer — not just their artistic journey, but their safety, well-being, and long-term health.

Through these efforts, we hope to empower dancers and families with both opportunity and knowledge, creating lasting positive change within our community.
Long Term Vision
Our long-term vision is to expand our scholarship program significantly, increasing both the number of students supported and the depth of financial assistance available — especially for pre-professional and collegiate dancers pursuing dance at the highest levels.

In the years ahead, Ricky’s Fund aims to deepen our involvement in the broader community by offering educational programming, outreach events, and partnerships that promote both dance and wellness. This includes long-term commitments to mental health advocacy, preventive education around substance risks, and widespread access to Narcan training to help save lives.

Ultimately, we hope to inspire future generations — dancers and non-dancers alike — by building a community that values artistry, opportunity, safety, and compassion. Ricky believed in people wholeheartedly, and our long-term vision is to let that belief continue changing lives.
